There's an article by Jane Bridgeman in Apollo about 10 years ago, on the
'dancing maidens' in Ambrogio Lorenzetti's Palazzo Pubblico frescoes in
Siena, where she discusses prohibitions on dancing in public etc, and when
it was allowed.
