medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Paul,
No, I am not saying that TEI is irrelevant as a standard; I am saying
that TEI programs written for 8-bit OS are obsolete. TEI is basically
very simple; I can't see that it could become obsolete. The utilities
may have kept up with the new OS's, but that would lose downwards
compatibility -- unless the software was very carefully written. I
really don't know where they stand right now; the last I heard they
were still encoding texts. Stuart Lee (I still have his attempt at
creating a multi-part version of a first world war poem that he
wanted me to check out -- only one of the reasons I give my old
computer shelf space <G>), who is now head of the computers in the
Humanities at Oxford, will know.
