Thank you for your insightful comments - I am encouraged that there seems
such unity in acknowledging this particular 'problem'. I wonder, then, if
anyone can point me in the direction of further studies that have been
carried out addressing this area, either in design or other disciplines.
(I know there is a great deal to be found in Teaching and Learning
literature, but this appears more by proxy than addressing this specific
question in context.)
If I may also ask a further question to those with first-hand experience of
teaching design; have you found it possible to introduce the
cross-disciplinary benefits of design to students in such a way as they
actively explore alternative career routes in preference to more traditional
consultancy work?
