medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Christopher Crockett reports that he is using MS Word
2008. I use installations of Word 6.0 (mainly for
plain-text based stuff - it works fine under WinXP) and
Word 2000. In Word 6.0, I can find the characters in
the Times New Roman font by going to Insert > Symbol,
and in the "Font" window on the "Symbols" tab selecting
"Times New Roman CE". In Word 2000, for various fonts,
the "bearded e", upper and lower case, is in the "Latin
Extended-A" part of the font: one finds it by going to
Insert > Symbol, and on the "Symbols" tab selecting
"(normal text)" in the "Font" field and "Latin
Extended-A" in the "Subset" field. If one is going to
be using the characters a lot, one can define custom
shortcut key sequences for them. I assume that what is
available to Word 2000 users will be to those of rather
later versions.
