Recently saw the wonderful 'Chacun son cinéma ou Ce petit coup au cœur quand la lumière s'éteint et que le film commence' [To each his own cinema], the series of shorts commissioned by the Cannes film festival with directors each getting a 3 minute slot. Atom Egoyan's segment, 'Artaud double bill' has two people each in separate cinemas texting each other (or doing live chat on a BlueBerry) and using the video phone to communicate, being transposed at times onto the actual cinema screen. Wonderful but would need many more viewings before I could even sum it up properly let alone know what's going on there. Being an Egoyan, even though only 3 minutes, there's probably an entire PhD thesis waiting to be written.
