DS next-generation user experience provides public libraries with social
networking services for the first time
At the L+iS exhibition 2008 in April, DS, the market leader in UK public
libraries and archives, will unveil its next generation user experience,
DS Arena. DS Arena will set new standards for the online services that a
public library can deliver to its community. See DS at stand 310.
Designed with Web 2.0 collaboration at its heart, DS Arena will complement
the OpenGalaxy library management solution. As library usage moves from
traditional face-to-face activity to new forms of interaction, libraries
will be able to build on these new uses through the fostering and creation
of new citizen interfaces, discussion groups and online activities.
The new user experience will deliver a host of leading edge functionality
popular in today’s community and social networking websites, but that will
be new to public library services. DS Arena translates these features
into a public library context and positively redefines the user
experience.
