Structural interpretations and 3D geometry of thrust belts
The School of Geosciences has research strengths that include seismic interpretation, marine geoscience, continental tectonics, sedimentology and petroleum geology. There are excellent research facilities for seismic interpretation, structural modeling and GIS using industry-standard software. The University has ambitious plans for growth within the areas of geology and geophysics in the next few years. The School is uniquely placed to benefit from close collaboration with the international energy business with Aberdeen the largest centre in Europe of hydrocarbon exploration and production.
