HEALTH SERVICES RESEARCH AND EFFECTIVENESS UNIT
The Health Services Research and Effectiveness Unit of NHS QIS supports
NHSScotland in its decision making processes to improve the quality,
effectiveness and safety of healthcare. We do this via a range of evidence
based resources and approaches, including facilitating the availability and
use of clinical indicators/national datasets for the purpose of driving
quality improvement. To support continued growth and development we are
currently seeking:
Health Services Researchers - 3 posts (Ref: GS71)
£28,313 - £37,326 (Band 7)
Glasgow
As an experienced Health Services Researcher you will assist in the
production of systematic reviews and similar summaries of clinical
effectiveness. These posts are part of a team of researchers who work with
other scientists, healthcare professionals, patients and the public to
produce a range of evidence based publications. This will include
contributing to the Scottish programme of work associated with NICE
guidance.
You will also contribute to the development of methodologies for the use of
quantitative and qualitative research evidence in NHS QIS work and will
provide expert research advice across the organisation. Postholders will be
expected to publish work and contribute to scientific conferences in
relevant fields.
These positions require clear thinking and methodical researchers who have
the ability to organise and summarise large amounts of scientific
information. In addition to a scientific or clinical degree, the post
holder will be expected to have a Masters degree in Public Health or a
related discipline and/or have extensive health services research
experience ideally including the conduct of systematic reviews. Experience
of the design and analysis of questionnaire surveys, clinical trials,
observational studies and primary qualitative studies would be desirable.
