Call for Interest
New Directions in the Anthropology of Education
Week of May 19th, 2008, Date TBC
The University of Sussex, Department of Anthropology
We are currently seeking expressions of interest in a
one-day workshop exploring new directions UK
researchers are taking in the anthropology of
education to be held on May 19th, 2008 at the
University of Sussex.
The objective of this workshop is to gain a better
understanding of the conceptual and methodological
issues and identify new research directions in the
anthropology of education. We also hope that this
workshop will contribute to building a network of
researchers in the UK and to explore interdisciplinary
approaches to anthropology and education.
This workshop seeks to bring together both new and
established researchers to discuss new directions for
research in the anthropology of education within a
research-in-progress format with presentations of
between 15-20 minutes. We hope to be able to publish
the final papers in 2009.
There is travel assistance available from the
Department of Anthropology at the University of Sussex
for both presenters and participants within the UK.
We are currently seeking to collect expressions of
interest in this workshop from PhD students, new
researchers and established academics in order to
