We still have a few places left on the following event this Thursday...
Career Development Event, Manchester Metropolitan University, Thursday 28th February, lunch from 12.30pm (1pm start)
The North West branch of the CDG are holding this event, ideal for anyone looking for some advice and information on professional development issues, whether you're looking for evidence for your chartership portfolio, applying for jobs, or just looking for general information about career development issues. The event is open to all, whether you're a CILIP/CDG member or not. It's going to be informal but hopefully informative too. Speakers are Lawraine Wood (MMU), talking about the job market and application process, Shan Annis (NHS Health Care Libraries Unit) on CPD issues- including chartership and revalidation, Liz Jolly (Salford University) on transferable skills and the challenges of working in and transferring between different sectors. We'll also be having a talk from a style advisor from John Lewis, who'll be offering some tips on dressing for an interview, and you'll even get to see some of the CDG committee modelling some suggested interview outfits! Cost is £5 (free for students/graduate trainees), which includes lunch and entry into a raffle to win a £20 John Lewis gift voucher.
