New year, new challenges? Facing a NEW build? Instructed to come up with a NEW structure? Looking for a NEW approach to supporting the learning process?
Then People, Places & Pedagogy is the event for you!
The programme for the day is as follows:
10.30am Welcome & coffee
11:00am - 12.15am - PEOPLE: Karen Foster,Head of Learning Centres at Yeovil College. Karen has been in post from October 2007 and for the previous 6 years wasLearning Resources Manager at South Devon College. Yeovil is a unique FE College with staff with the job title Subject Librarian. Karen will be presenting a fun workshop - Learning Resource Adviser Supermarket Sweep. Will you reach the check-out with the perfect Learning Adviser?
12.15pm - 12.45pm - Lunch (provided)
12.45pm - 2.00pm - PLACE: Kate Gardner, the Head of Library and Study Centres at Worcester College of Technology. Kate has been instrumental in helping to establish eleven curriculum-focussed study centres. This session will consider the transformation of the Learning Resources service from a traditional single site library and open access computer room to eleven remotely located curriculum-based study centres moving focus from teaching to learning and improving retention and achievement.The presentation is not intended to be a "how we did it good" session but a more evaluative description of the concept, design and creation of the centres.
2.15pm - 3.30pm - PEDAGOGY: Virginia Havergal, E-Learning Advisor - Learning Resources JISC RSC South West. Virginia has over 25 years experience of working in FE, HE and the public sector including being LRC Manager at Wiltshire College and was seconded to the National Learning Network as an ILT Subject Mentor. Virginia is passionate about development of exciting and innovative learning activities, together with effective use of online learning resources and libraries. Virginia's workshop will consider how the design of learning spaces are not just about brick and mortars but fostering learning relationships, and will consider the learning interactions that will take place in them. Virginia will lead a practical session and provide resources to help us consider our learning spaces current and future.
3.30pm - 3.45pm Tour of Yeovil College's e-Library.
3.45pm - Close
Fee £10+VAT to CILIP members and £20+VAT to non-members.
