*and* personalised settings therein - AFAIK no solution can be found to
that. AFAIK none of the SPs in the fed have any mechanism for migration of
settings. Migration has to occur as, e.g. RefWorks accessed via the shibb
to athens gateway is not the same resource as RefWorks accessed via the uk
federation.
The providerId is different in both cases and hence EPTI different,
producing two separate sets of personalisations. This condition already
exists between classic athens and the shib to athens gateway. So
potentially users could have 3 sets of settings depending how they login
to RefWorks.
If you're moving to shibb for the first time, then the fed looks a good
bet but if you're coming from the shib to athens gateway, it's a case of
"abandon all settings ye who enter here".
I hope I'm missing something but I can't see what. Anyone fancy working on
a SAML account linking profile?
