the paper, or papers, are less the guarantee for security that they
were, say, 15 years ago. a couple of translators from the European
commission came to talk about worklife to us, & told us that a
master's degree doesn't guarantee anything anymore. which makes sense:
if you spend your entire (early) adulthood studying, when will the
life (i.e. work) experience come in? it's a tough situation. but I
mean to play it bravely (i.e. lazily) by ear.
