While a drawing is a drawing, no one bothers to question whether a
drawing of a thing is the thing.
Equally, while all language instances are instances of language, no one
should bother to question whether a language account of a thing is the
thing.
In this sense, all language is language.
The features of language that come to the fore in fiction are to be
found in all language just as the features that come to the fore in
factual writing can be found in all language.
This might be disappointing.

Despite Ken's aspirations, (and maybe he has a particularly well
endowed
organ of truth)
Nothing that I write is free from my ideology and personal interests. I
understand that Isaac Newton had the same problem. I can't speak for
anybody else (I was reading about Newton last night so I can still
remember what was said moderately clearly, albeit through a particular
historian's filter)
Best wishes from Sheffield, home of the "Off the Shelf" annual festival
of writing.
