Dear Lubomir and all,
Perhaps the planet you long for is actually this one revisited. Could it be
that your beliefs have or are being abducted by aliens and friends alike,
through altered discourses or contrary views of hinterlands and realities (as
John Law or Bruno Latour might have it)?
What comprises the category, "male design researcher"? . Design researchers
who are male perhaps. Female researchers of design by males perhaps. Who
exactly might these aliens choose to abduct?
On the question you raised the other day about successful leftist projects, I
would tend to point to Cuban education and literacy programs, and the health
system in the Indian State of Kerala as just two. Timor Leste adopted the
Cuban designed literacy program under the Fretlin government. During its rule,
the Education Ministry building housing the Cuban led program became a target
for rioters who were not held in check by UN forces. Like the government
itself which was destablised, social (less capitalist oriented) programs in
the 'arc of instablilty' do not seem to be favored by the former Australian
and current US governments. The future of the literacy program in Timor Leste
may now be in doubt. Such events would seem to give substance to the People's
Republic of China Constitution Preamble which sees 'elements, both at home
and abroad, that are hostile to China's socialist system and try to undermine it'.
As it is, just with other projects of spiritual good, it is quite difficult to
find successful leftist projects, given the exerted efforts to remove them.
It is rare to hear people write about the post- World War 1 intentional
communities that drew communists, Christians, Jews and people of many other
beliefs together in the inter-war period in attempts to build a better world
(have to be an improvement on trench warfare).
In Europe, National Socialism destroyed many of these projects, and in America
the McCarthy era would also have taken its toll on leftist projects, during
the post World war 2 period.
Perhaps we should hold aliens responsible for the divisions and accusations,
that make our planet into something other than it might be at best, given good
human intent and good design initiatives.
