This exciting role within the Centre for Evidence in Transplantation is part of the centre's work and the person appointed would be responsible for the further development and maintenance of an electronic library of randomised controlled trials in organ transplantation.
The Centre for Evidence in Transplantation was established in 2005, with its major role being the evaluation of evidence in organ transplantation, both with respect to quality and outcome. In addition, a major project of the CET has been the development of an electronic library of all randomised controlled trials in organ transplantation.
The particular post has as a major responsibility the further development and maintenance of the electronic library but would also participate in systematic reviews of questions in organ transplantation that are to be evaluated. The centre is linked with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and is an integral part of the Clinical Effectiveness Unit, also linked with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, within The Royal College of Surgeons of England.
The electronic library is to be launched in January in association with the publishers Lippincott Williams and Wilkins with access through the journal Transplantation, the major journal in the field.
The person appointed needs to have had post graduate training in an appropriate health related discipline and be experienced in systematic reviews.
The centre is also contracted by the European Society of Organ Transplantation as a knowledge centre for ESOT and here primarily the CET role is to help with the design and reporting of randomised controlled trials within the European transplantation community.
