medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Since we are so keen on correct citations, I should say that the sentence I
quoted was from Norman Tanner's essay on religious practice in _Medieval
Norwich_ ed. by Carole Rawcliffe and Richard Wilson (London, 2004), pp.
137-155.

medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
I have been away from PC for a while so may be entering this late but,
unless his recent article (already cited by Cate, I think) contains/updates
everything in his thesis) colleagues may be interested in Norman P Tanner,
The church in Later medieval Norwich 1370-1532 (Pontifical Institute of
Medieval Studies, 1984) - the book of his thesis. pp198-203 list all the
known anchorages and hermitages in Norwich. The thesis/book is an
examination of the wonderful surviving series of will registers for the
Norwich diocese.
