Hi Ranjan,
I'm fairly sure that your proposed category comes under the fifth category
of the list I posted (perhaps also the sixth).
I'm cautious of awarding design activity some sort of magic advantage over
other kinds of activity. The techniques of Future Studies seem to be in
advance of many of the methods commonly used by designers and those
techniques and methods used by designers that apply to gaining knowledge of
the future, predicting the future, or providing methods to respond to
changes in future conditions seem to be ones that could equally well be
classified as applied research or management - where they are not simply
based on guesswork. Thoughts?
All the best,
Terry
<snip>I would suggest that you need to add one more category and that is:
What you want to know but one cannot know by any science or method ( eg:
Conditions of the Furure, which unfortunately is the core offering of
design)<unsnip>
