A query re calcanei: does anyone know what the terms are for 'C' and 'D' on the sheep and goat calcanei as illustrated in Boessneck (1969, Fig. 69-70) and also Dobney et al (page 151) and which are used to distinguish sheep and goat? Apart from an illustration i don't know how to refer to these in writing. I think C might be the 'processus anterior' but I'm not certain.
Also, an update on the Irish possible weasel - the measurements confirmed that the humerus was of a weasel and probably male. The archaeological context it was found in was not 100% secure and I have submitted a sample for C14 dating. I will post the result when it comes in.
