Salary dependent on experience, but likely to be in the region of £18- 20K
The Science Communication Unit at the University of the West of England
(UWE) has been awarded a contract to deliver a News Alert service covering
environmental research with policy relevance. The News Alert service will
be delivered weekly by email to subscribers across Europe and made
available on the DG Environment website, on dedicated ‘Science for
Environment Policy’ pages. In addition to the News Alert service, we will
also create monthly Special Issues covering specific research themes, e.g.
soil protection.
The Role
We are seeking a hard-working, enthusiastic and flexible individual with
excellent administrative skills and familiarity with web- and computer-
based tools. The Project Assistant will assist the Managing Editor in the
preparation of the weekly News Alerts and monthly Special issues. The
Project Assistant will be responsible for:
• editing and production of the News Alerts and Special Issues
• sending the News Alerts to subscribers
• updating the Science for Environment Policy webpages
• implementing an archiving system for the webpages
• implementing a marketing campaign, for example by using existing
networks to identify potential subscribers.
The successful candidate is likely to have experience of managing websites,
including uploading content, Experience of managing contact databases,
editing/sub-editing experience.
