Research Officer - Public Engagement

The Wellcome Trust is the largest charity in the UK. It funds innovative biomedical research, in the UK and internationally, with the aim of improving human and animal health.
Working within the Education team in our Medicine Society and History Division, you will work on a programme of educational policy research including the establishment of the Wellcome Monitor. This is a rolling programme of research to track adults' and young people's attitudes, knowledge and interest in the biosciences. Your role will include liaising with project groups and stakeholders, developing and sharing a knowledge base on public engagement with science and contributing to the overall development of the Trust's educational policy research strategy. You will therefore need...
* a social sciences degree (and ideally a post graduate qualification in a relevant subject)
* considerable experience of conducting/commissioning quantitative market or social research projects
* significant experience of conducting statistical analyses
* a demonstrable interest in influencing policy and practice and in science education/current developments in science
* skills in translating research findings into policy relevant and user-friendly formats
* excellent communication and interpersonal skills and experience of working collaboratively with a wide range of organisations and audiences
* good project, budget and time management skills
