Strictly speaking, it's a management decision, but we provide advice on
whether the sickness absence is appropriate for the medical condition and
management may decide to act on the basis of that advice. The Med3
certificate is only a statement of entitlement to SSP, though many people
treat it as an "open sesame" for the full company ill health benefits
scheme.
