Every year the National Blood Service (NBS) helps to save and improve
hundreds of lives. From a network of 14 centres across England and North
Wales, we collect almost 2.5 million units of blood each year from 2 million

evidence based practice in transfusion medicine.

Data Manager Vacancies (2 posts)
*

Join us and you'll play a vital role in providing full data management
support to the CSU Manager and Statistician for research projects within our
Clinical Studies Unit. The role includes handling day-to-day data management
of one or more clinical trials, liaising closely with our team of CSU
Research Nurses to collate and check study data, focussing particularly on
matters of data completeness and quality. That includes setting up study
database definitions and designing data entry forms, ensuring trial data is
entered and coded in a timely and accurate manner, undertaking data
validation exercises and contributing towards trial planning & data
analysis. You'll also be involved in updating our website, producing trial
progress reports and visiting participating sites to undertake monitoring if
required. For some smaller studies you may also be given the opportunity to
extend your clinical research skills by acting as trial co-ordinator.

We're looking for a graduate with a biological or para-medical background,
who is highly IT literate with excellent computing skills. You'll have the
ability to design databases and study forms, and ideally have experience of
managing clinical research using databases such as Access, Oracle or other
software programmes. Highly organised and capable of meticulous attention to
detail, you will be using a clinical trial management software package, for
which training will be given. As this will involve working with colleagues
at the Medical Research Council's Clinical trials Unit in London, you must
be willing to travel on a regular basis.

Both posts are full-time for 37.5 hrs/week, however, applications from
candidates wishing to work part-time will be considered.

Closing date for completed applications: 28th November 2007

Interviews will be held (in LONDON): 13th or 14th December 2007

For an application form and job description, please telephone 0114 203 4916
quoting reference number 918 A1268. You can also apply online at
*www.blood.co.uk/careers* <http://www.blood.co.uk/careers> and enter *

Charlotte Llewelyn on 0122 354 8047
