pro.activ by name….
Forgive the pun, but Unilever really does take
the proactive approach to analysing decisions.
Unilever’s Finance Academy plays a central role
in shaping the future of Finance within Unilever.
The Decision Analysis Group is part of the
Finance Academy which has been developing and
applying a wide range of Decision Analysis
techniques, which are being rolled out under the
Decision Making Under Uncertainty (DMUU)
programme. These techniques have been deployed on
probabilistic business cases and strategic
decision problems throughout different parts of
the business and functions in Unilever. The group
is a central expertise resource which delivers an
internal Decision Analysis consultancy service,
providing both facilitative leadership and
leading edge analytical skills to help teams work
through complex business decisions. These tend to
be the large, difficult and sensitive problems,
high stake one-off decisions, or problems that
cross organizational boundaries. The Group also
leads the development and rollout of training
courses for Unilever Managers in Decision Making
techniques, and provides long term coaching to course participants.
We employ a team of analysts who use leading edge
techniques to evaluate complex decisions. Your
work will cover a vast range of products, require
the job holder to become an expert consultant, an
experienced trainer / coach and also lead the
development of specific aspects of the DMUU
programme. So what does all this mean? Variety,
travel, empowerment and a higher profile than ever before.
We’re looking for applicants with an MSc or PhD
in statistics to join the team as a Decision
Analyst to bring together specialists from across
the business to assess risk in a range of
business decisions. This role will combine
modelling and facilitation, often in a financial context.
If you have a natural instinct to think about
things differently, question accepted practices
and come up with solutions to tricky issues then
this might be the role for you! If this sounds
like you, please visit the Unilever website –

vacancies we have and make your details available
to other companies in the Unilever Group for the
same purpose. Some Unilever companies are in
