Omigod! Reordered and anonymised thread from another country, with
worrying consequences. Is it also happening here, and what are the
implications for the electronic health record, especially in the wake of
HMRC's recent shortcomings (denial of insurance for DM may be
reversable, but what about positive drugs of abuse results? . . .)

1. We are starting to have a growing problem (or maybe
now I am aware of it due to XXXXX) with staff doing their own
glucometer testing and typing in random pt id's. I've been
documenting it and will address it soon. I want to have all my facts
straight before I do. Other than hospital policy, what kind of laws,
regulatory guidelines, etc are being violated when staff do this? We
are XXXXXX inspected. I know they'll think I'm just being annoying, so I
want to be able to back up what I tell them.

2. I would start with falsification of medical record (that glucose
result is now in that patient's chart). Billing fraud if you charging
for your glucoses.

3. Another thing to add is testing without a physician's order, and who
is going to "treat" the patient and interpret the result if there are
no physician's orders.
