It is enshrined in legislation that the libraries should provide a
comprehensive service. If the libraries were to provide a comprehensive
service they would not highlight one particular advertiser, but all the
products of the same type for the library user. In this way libraries
provide an 'open' service, the 'free library'. Is providing an advert
aiding a 'self-help' culture?
It's not in the spirit of the libraries to advertise.
