I'd guess the 81.171 is the "robust max" (which is roughly the 98th
percentile -- see $FSLDIR/src/newimage/newimage.cc lines 2073 onwards
for details), so how do the results of:
fslstats your_image -r -p 98
compare to this number?

If you want to compare a bunch of different results, on a common
visual scale, you might like to pass something like
-b 0,5000
as an option to fslview, after each image on the command line. Or just
manually set the ranges to be the same in fslview's GUI.
