orientation, zoom and position, name and annotation, but basically, yes.

Yes. Tom Oldfield is putting together some ideas and plans about a
common [1] description of views and things like
colour/atom-selection/representation-style. I'd like Coot to work with
that scheme.

That's a very reasonable wish.

Yes it can. Can it be done today? No.
I mean by that, the commands are all there to do the contouring, hiding,
colouring etc. But there is no way to "run" those commands given a
particular view.
OK then, when constructing a particular view, we could "capture
molecules attributes", which would query {the colour, contour level,
off/on state} of all molecule and somehow stuff that information into
the view. That would not be too difficult, I think.
Would that do?

[1] e.g. for pymol, ccp4mg, Coot, rasmol, Astexviewer (maybe...) should
be able to interchangeably read and write "scenes".
