Not that I can recall. It will do though :)
I think this "inserting fragments of code into just the right place"
as the interface currently is, is awkward. I intend to use hooks
in future.

Oops- sorry. An error in the FAQ. Thanks. I've fixed it now.

Hmmm... it works like it's supposed to - simple-mindedly. I agree that
it would be good to dynamically add views to the views panel. I'll try
to make that happen.
You can annotate the views too (as you may know) - but that is not
slickly handled either.
