The Career Development Group (West Country and Devon & Cornwall Divisions) is running a Deep Web course at Yeovil College on Friday 4th January 2008.
This popular half day course is highly interactive and will cover

* - From Friends Reunited to Facebook - social networking sites and information about people
* - Your virtual desktop - social bookmarks and file sharing - del.icio.us, esnips, tribe

* The Deep Web
* - What is it? When did it start?
* - Deep Web sites - interacting with the information: conversions; Deep Web search engines.
* - Timetables, entertainment listings and dynamic information
* - Bibliographic databases and library catalogues - Pubmed; Ingenta; British Library
* - Shopping sites - ebay, amazon and froogle
* - Online calendars (some examples)
* - Chat, messaging and fora (Yahoo; MSN)
* - Multimedia (or, the importance of metadata): pictures, music and film
