sure
observe the gestures that accompany speaking are usually metaphorically
related to what they say and precede by fractions of a second the
articulations. it seems less time consuming to gesture than to formulate
complete linguistic expressions, but since we do not read much into
gestures, in fact most literal people see them as an irrelevant sideline, we
have not coordinated gestures and they seem arbitrary and useless.
in an audio-visual experiment, we managed to disconnect gestures from
articulations and this seemed odd, with subjects not quite knowing why. in
other words, gestures metaphorically support thought and articulation
