I have been asked by a local GP regarding a patient's
saliva. The patient has seen a range of doctors (ENT,
neurology, psychiatry, rheumatology) regarding a large
range of symptoms. She complains of persistent 'plastic'
type saliva. Her husband says that it has burned the
varnish off the table. The GP has seen a sample which
looks more like 'thin polythene' than standard saliva. The
GP is asking whether there is a chemical or secretion that
is abnormal in the saliva which might explain this. Any
help appreciated! Thanks
Rob
