Michael,
We report the following ranges for calcium/creatinine ratio in children:
Under 7 months < 2.4 mmol/mmol
7-18 months < 1.7
19m-6y < 1.2
Over 6y < 0.7
(References: Arch Dis Childh (1974) Vol 49, p97-101 and
J. Paedriatr. (1993) Vol 123 p393-7)
For phosphate we suggest measurement of Tubular Phosphate Reabsorption
with a reference range for children of greater than 80%.

Subject: Urinary calcium and phosphate reference ranges
Dear Lab Community,
While (varying !) Ca and P reference ranges are available for 24 h urine
samples, it is difficult for me to find numbers for random urine
samples.
I know that 24 h urine samples should be preferred. However, please
remember that it is no easy task to collect a 24 h urine from a 2
year-old boy ...
As always, your collected wisdom is welcome.
Thank you for your input.
