Hello,
Tetraodontiform fishes seem to have been exploited at a very small scale.
There is an excellent overview of fishing in the SW Pacific by Foss Leach -
"Fishing in pre-european New Zeeland" (359 pp). Foss Leach and his
colleauges have only found very marginal evidence of Diodontidae in New
Zeeland sites. You should consult Foss book for general information on
fishing in the Pacific.
The book was published jointly by the journal "Archaeofauna" and "New
Zeeland Journal of Archaeology" in 2006. It can be ordered from: NZ
Journal of Archaeology, PO Box 14-359, Kilbirnie, Wellington, New Zeeland.
The price is 78.50 NZ-dollars + postage.
