medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Sharon,
Probably most of what you wish to know is contained in the third paragraph of the article on Baronius in the _New Schaff-Herzog Encyclopedia of Religious Knowledge_ (1908-14):
http://tinyurl.com/2v6you
It's apparent from its characterizing as incomplete the edition published by L. Guerin at Bar-le-Duc (Barri-Ducis) from 1864 through 1883 that this article was taken over from a previous edition of the Schaff-Herzog. Because it is so widely available, that edition of Bar-le-Duc is frequently cited. Here's a statement (widely used in library catalogs) of what it does and doesn't have in addition to the original _Annales ecclesiastici_ of Baronio:
"includes the emendations of Pagi and the notes of Mansi, but not Theiner’s continuation (1572-1585). Vols. 20-34 contain the continuation by Rinaldi (1198-1565) ; v.35-37, the continuation by Laderchi (1566-1571)."
The continuators used to be cited routinely under the Latin forms of their names used in their editions. Starting in the last century, though, it became common to refer to them under vernacular name forms. You will thus find information on e.g. Henricus Spondanus or Odoricus Raynaldus under Henri de Sponde or Odorico Raynaldi (or Rinaldi).
Hope this helps. And happy feast of the holy martyrs of San Marco Argentano!
Best,
John Dillon
