Call for Proposals for Student-Edited Publication in any Modern Language Subject
The AHRC-funded Research Training Network (RTN) in Modern Languages (see http://igrs.sas.ac.uk/postgraduate/researchtraining.html <https://webmail.london.ac.uk/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://igrs.sas.ac.uk/postgraduate/researchtraining.html> ) is offering research students the opportunity to edit and publish their first academic book. We are looking for two students who will co-edit collaboratively and applications are invited from pairs of students.
Proposals should be for a thematically-linked collection of essays totalling between 80,000 and 120,000 words on any subject in Modern Languages. The book must be in English, though quotations may be in the original language.
The selected pair of students will be in charge of the entire editorial process: the conception of the book, call for contributors, selection of essay proposals, timetabling, detailed editing, finalising of camera-ready copy, and dissemination/publicity, including organising an Editorial Workshop at the IGRS for contributors to discuss each other's drafts. Throughout this process you will receive support and training from experienced members of staff of the IGRS and the Universities of Leeds, Birmingham and Glasgow.
Please send your proposal to Dr Ricarda Vidal at [log in to unmask], copied to Prof Naomi Segal ([log in to unmask]) by 20 October 2007. The proposal should include:
· the CVs of both proposed editors (including the name of a referee)
· the title of the proposed collection;
· a 500-word summary of the thematic idea on which the collection is based.
