Indeed!
In our work politics (with a small p) accounts for approximately 50%
of the effort in any design project. It's very much part of the
process and one needs to develop skills and expertise in this area
like any other aspect of design.

But I would distinguish between this type of politics, and the macro-
level of politics in which, in democratic societies, we are all
supposed to be experts regardless of our professional know-how!
