Composers of any age, any nationality, are invited to submit works for
workshop rehearsal with the Arditti String Quartet at Kingston
University. The workshops are designed for postgraduate students,
postdoctoral composers and composers at the beginning of their
professional careers. Brian Ferneyhough, William H Bonsall Professor of
Music at Stanford University, California, will guide the two days of
workshop sessions on Thursday 14th and Friday 15th February 2008.
Some of these works will be selected for performance in a public concert
at LSO St. Luke’s on Saturday 16th February 2008 at 7.30 pm together
with quartets by Ferneyhough and Redgate. This concert will be broadcast
by BBC Radio 3.
Works must be written for string quartet (without electronics) and be of
8 to 12 minutes duration. The selection committee will include Brian
Ferneyhough, members of the Arditti String Quartet and Paul Archbold
