medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
For those who read German, Horst Wenzel, Berlin, did some interesting
studies on this medieval "cinema", for instance in his important book
"Hören und Sehen. Schrift und Bild", about the relation between
pictures and texts. It's a pity, that germanists know the language
and historians do not know the book - therfore i doubt, if its
translated soon. But he made some English papers too.
Try to get in mind what happens, when you go along the Bayeux
tapestry or a medieval fresco with only a candle in your hand: You
always see only a part of the pictures ... My tip: don't try it in
the museum of Bayeux!
