medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear fellow list members
I'm re-posting this to coincide with the start of the US academic
year. I would be especially grateful if you could forward it to
others you know who might be interested and/or post it on other
discussion lists to which you belong. As you'll see, the deadline for
submissions is 1 October; but we would welcome earlier submissions or
expressions of interest, so that we can get a sense of the shape the
meeting might take.

"Francis, Dominic, their orders and their tradition" is the theme of
the 2008 Sewanee Medieval Colloquium (11-12 April 2008). Plenary
lectures will be given by Bernard McGinn (University of Chicago),
David L. Jeffreys (Baylor University), and Michele Mulchahey
(University of Toronto).
Proposals are invited for 20-minute papers or for 3-paper sessions
related to the theme in any way. Please submit an abstract (approx.
250 words) and brief c.v., electronically if possible, no later than
1 October 2007. If you wish to propose a session, please submit
abstracts and vitae for all participants in the session. Completed
papers, including notes, will be due no later than 10 March 2008. The
Sewanee Medieval Colloquium Prize will be awarded for the best paper
by a graduate student or recent PhD recipient (degree awarded since
