1. Writing for the Web, 18th September

What is so different about writing for the web? The ability to write and re-purpose content for the web is an important skill. This workshop will explore a range of proven practical techniques that you will be able to take away and apply directly to your own web site authoring.
Topics covered include:
Practical writing techniques for use in the online environment
Use of active and passive verbs
Examination of web audience and intent
Practical tasks for writing for an organisation profile and audience
The difference between good web content and good web design
2. Train the Trainer, 19th September

This practical workshop is targeted at anyone who already has or is likely to have an role delivering face-to-face internet-related training courses and considers all aspects of the training process, from planning to evaluation.
Topics covered include:
Challenges associated with internet-related training
Planning, structuring and implementing training sessions
Tips for producing, modifying and delivering training materials
Adapting materials and presentations
Preparing and presenting live internet demonstrations
Supporting and managing trainees in a group training session
Evaluating events and workshops
3. Surviving Web Overload, 20th September

Are you drowning in information and wasting too much time trying to keep up? This workshop introduces a range of tools to help make the web work for you. From online post-it notes and to-do lists to personalising your own Google home page, the web is awash with tools and gadgets to help you streamline your working and home life.
Topics covered include:
Personalised sites and search tools, including sites for sharing information
Tools to keep up to date, including RSS, podcasting, alerting services and page trackers
Customising web browsers, including Firefox and Firefox extensions Desktop search tools
Personal life management tools, such as calendars and scheduling tools
