The Clinical Effectiveness Unit is a joint unit of The Royal College of
Surgeons of England and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical
Medicine. Its remit is to carry out national audits, develop audit
methodologies and produce evidence on clinical and cost-effectiveness of
surgical procedures.
The CEU will carry out an audit of elective surgery performed in
Independent Sector Treatment Centres. This audit will focus on clinical
outcomes that are directly relevant to patients.
For this audit, we are seeking a project officer who will work in a
multidisciplinary team. The candidate will support the data collection,
carry out data validation, contribute to data analysis, and write audit and
research reports. The work could form the basis for scientific publications.
The post requires excellent verbal and written communication skills and
good organisational abilities.
Applicants must have a higher degree (MSc or equivalent) in health services
research, statistics, epidemiology or a related discipline. Experience
with handling large databases and analysing quantitative data is also
needed.
The post will be full-time for three years. A review will be undertaken at
the end of the first year in accordance with the College’s performance
review policy
