MRC Laboratories, The Gambia is the Medical Research Council˘s largest establishment conducting laboratory, field based and clinical research in a developing country. The Unit aims to improve the health of people in developing countries by contributing to the development, testing and safe adoption of interventions aimed at reducing the burden of morbidity and mortality from infectious diseases.
We are interested in receiving applications from candidates with a postgraduate qualification in statistics to join a group of Statisticians working on clinical trials, epidemiological studies, community-based interventions and studies of basic biomedical science. You will have practical experience working as a medical statistician, considerable experience of data analysis and research, familiarity with epidemiological methods, an interest in health in developing countries and excellent communication skills. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity in one of the foremost medical research institutions in a developing country.
The post will be in MRC˘s Band 3 within the salary range £34,588 - £42,754 per annum. For displaced staff, we offer generous overseas allowances, furnished accommodation, flights and other benefits.
The appointment is for 3 years, extendable by mutual agreement.
