I overlooked that Martha was looking for translation of the title only.
"Kuchi kuchi" is a term of endearment. It may be as Indra has translated. "
Rukkamma"
is a combination of Rukk, a name and amma is general suffix added to impart
respect to a lady.
Rukkamma would be the name of the lady. So Indra's translation would fit in
perfectly.
In the tamil version the dialogues spoken by the female protagonist have
been dubbed by a tamilian actress and Manisha Koirala does not speak tamil.
The lyrics of song have been changed a bit to suit the music score. I will
email the translation of both the version by friday, if you want them.
Bombay is a path breaking film in many ways and left a strong impact on the
audience. During the screeningof the film in Delhi in 1996, i was part of
the audience who stood up during the final scene of the film to form the
human chain as was depicted on screen.
