Dear Eliana Corbari,

I'm sure that they are aware of the points I raised, all of which probably had to do with limited funding. Here's an example of what others have been able to do by way of making increases in magnification available on the Web:

This is interesting. I presume that the reason why the separate author and title fields of the _schede_ were left blank had to do with issues of authority control, which latter are picky and (because of the skilled labor involved) expensive to resolve. If in RICERCA you will go to the field "AUTORE", you will find a drop-down menu of names, some in Latin and others in Italian. Selecting "Boezio" and searching for that term in "Ricerca testuale...", I get two results. But if I then search for "Boethius" in "Ricerca testuale...", I get those two and seven others.
That experience led me to suppose that "Ricerca testuale..." is probably a free-text search of each of the Descrizioni MANUS. But when I searched for "Mazzatinti" (and later, "MAZZATINTI") on "Ricerca testuale..." I got no results, though of course that character string occurs in most of these. So apparently it's a _limited_ search (with undisclosed parameters).
I'm contemplating writing a review of this site, which the Società Internazionale di Studi Francescani hopes can be expanded to include digitizations of other _fondi_ paralleling and even exceeding its very valuable microfilm holdings. If I do, I'll certainly share that review with the Società. Your further thoughts (and those of others) would be very welcome.
Best again,
John Dillon
