As you probably know Manchester is in the throws of major upheavals at the
moment! Just for a change GOOD map library news.
It would be good if you could put the following note in Cartographiti.
The University of Manchester map collections are being centralized into
the main
John Rylands University Library building, following the move of Geography to
the new School of Environment and Development building.
Morag Robson has been appointed as the full time Reference and Information
Assistant (Cartographic and Spatial Data Collections) a.k.a. map librarian.
Chris Perkins continues as University Map Curator with strategic
responsibilities.
The collections are in the process of moving to a dedicated area of the Main
Library, with a provisional opening date towards the end of October. Atlases,
gazetteers, map monographs, and cartographic texts are being amalgamated with
the various map collections and online facilities in a new Reading Room.
