The Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) is an active member of
the Integrated Site Security for Grids (ISSeG) collaboration that aims to
contribute to the consolidation of the European Grid infrastructure in the
field of computer security, by creating and disseminating practical
expertise on the deployment of Integrated Site Security (ISS), as a
complementary action to EGEE Grid Security.
Working with the other partners (CERN, FZK and an industrial partner), STFC
has primary responsible for Training and Dissemination deliverables within
this part EU funded project. This will results in the creation of a public
web site to share methods, recommendations and training plans on how
multi-disciplinary sites may implement ISS. In addition, the project will
also participate in EGEE events to promote ISS and work with the Grid
community.
The successful candidate will be supported through training where such need
is identified. Limited overseas travel to partner sites and EGEE events may
be required. The successful candidate will work along side the STFC ISSeG
Technical manger.
DUTIES
* Lead the ongoing development of the ISSeG training and dissemination plans
and materials
* Develop and release the public training and dissemination web site
* Organise and attend a pilot topical school on security for members of the
EGEE community.
* Participate in and contribute to various dissemination activities
including conferences and meetings.
* Under the instruction of the STFC ISSeG Technical manager, take
responsibility for specific developments that relate to EU project
deliverables.
* Taking the lead in identifying new opportunities for the dissemination of
ISSeG training materials.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants should have a Degree or equivalent, ideally in an area related to
Science Communications/Computer Communications/Computing. Good practical
knowledge of the development of training materials and web site design,
ideally with some understanding of computer security.
Key skills for this post include,
* Knowledge and practical experience of developing training and
dissemination material
* Ability to locate, reference and adapt existing material for use within
the project.
* Knowledge and practical experience of web site design and construction.
* Awareness of computer networks and their construction, TCP/IP and related
protocols.
* Awareness of computer security principles.
* Good problem solving skills.
* Excellent organisational skills
* Excellent communication skills
* Keen to acquire new and/or deeper skills in relevant areas
* Ability to travel overseas to partner and other sites.
