Running Effective Focus Groups

A course for anyone wanting to improve their skills in running focus
groups with students, staff or other library users. The course is
designed for people new to running focus groups - or those who would like
to feel more comfortable running a focus group!
Focus groups are an excellent and efficient way of capturing high-quality
qualitative data and are a lot simpler to put together and run than often
thought. This workshop will guide you through the basics of putting
together and running a focus group, together with tips on simple data
analysis and marketing the idea to participants and sponsors alike.
Delegates will learn how to
Decide when to use a focus group
Identify the benefits to participants, stakeholders and sponsors
Design and structure a focus group to ensure audience participation
Facilitate a focus group comfortably, irrespective of experience
Record and analyse qualitative data
Market and promote focus groups to maximise attendance
