Arts and Crafts for Youth Librarians Online Workshop
Youth Librarians are asked to fill the gaps in Art
education that school art budget cuts and lack of
funding for afterschool programs have created. The
trouble is, many youth librarians while willing to
offer arts and crafts programs, do not have formal art
training working with children and teens. Art
professor, Valerie Colston a library art performer has
created a solution for Youth Librarians who want to
gain more artistic confidence and network with others
from around the world.
Arts and Crafts for Youth Librarians is a four week
online workshop offered several times throughout the
year. The current workshop starts June 11.
Topics include:
Tips for Teaching Art to Children and Teens
Hands on Art Lesson Ideas
Enhancing Literacy Through the Arts
Summer Reading Art Project Ideas
Art for Teens
Marketing Your Art Program
Art Resources for Youth Librarians
The cost of the workshop is very reasonable at $35.00
(USD) and the response to the workshop has been very
positive. Youth Librarians from around the world have
participated.
