Gosh I feel happier with this -when I see statements like 'all something is
something' -I get worried-immediately start thinking of exceptions

I'd say (glibly) that a Western approach too often confuses *tension* with
*attention*. Cf Tanizaki on light and shade, or Cage on a set designed by
Noguchi: 'An old shoe would look beautiful here' or something to that
effect.
